**Job summary**:
As Senior Specialist, Biodiversity Compliance Markets, Climate Projects - Colombia**,** you will support the implementation of the mandatory biodiversity markets strategy in Colombia (and possibly for LatAm). Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Biodiversity Compliance Markets, Climate Projects - Colombia.

You will bring support mainly in the activities of structuring, designing and implementing aggregated conservation or offset mechanisms, structuring technical proposals for clients focused on mandatory biodiversity markets, structuring monitoring schemes and developing environmental compliance and tracking reports as required. Additionally, you will propose continuous improvement actions for the defined strategy.

This position is focused on supporting the design and operation of projects that generate biodiversity gains for the biodiversity markets in Colombia (and possibly for LatAm), supporting the coordination of monitoring schemes for different clients, and working on other biodiversity compliance markets if required. You will coordinate closely with other colleagues, supporting the integration of compliance markets and South Pole's biodiversity strategy.

**Main tasks & responsibilities**:

- Support the implementation of the Biodiversity market strategy for Colombia (and possibly for LatAm)
- Structure and support the technical team in the development of proposals for clients associated with mandatory biodiversity markets in the region
- Structuring documents for the conformation of aggregate Biodiversity investment mechanisms associated with the design and registration of habitat banks, private reserves and others that may be assigned
- Support the structuring of compensation plans, investment plans of no less than 1% and environmental compliance reports framed in the operation of aggregate biodiversity investment mechanisms in Colombia
- Support due diligence and field visits for the prioritization, selection and structuring of conservation projects associated with aggregate biodiversity investment mechanisms
- Work in coordination with other project teams to structure proposals and project documents related to biodiversity investment mechanisms for mandatory markets
- Attend events, workshops, forums and others related to the biodiversity market, as well as commercial meetings with clients and the Biodiversity KAM team when required
- Ability to manage complex and multiple projects and tasks, prioritise urgent and important ones, and fulfilling high-quality deliverables
- Identify and prioritise tasks according to the needs of the project, regarding the schedule and budget
- Planning and development of site visits and other types of business trips/training

**Requirements**:
Essential
- University Degree in forestry, agriculture, economics, biology, natural resource management, environmental management and environmental engineering, sustainability, climate change or related fields
- Several years experience in fields related to the development of biodiversity conservation projects
- Experience in designing and implementing biodiversity offsets, habitat banking, or payments for ecosystem services
- Knowledge of the regulations and methodologies related to biodiversity loss offsetting mechanisms in Latin America, mainly Colombia.
- Experience in teamwork, conservation project design and budget management
- Capacity to solve relatively complex project-related problems independently and receive general direction on new assignments or projects
- Ability to create high-quality written documents (proposals and deliverables) in Spanish and English
- Ability to manage targets and priorities and develop own goals
- Affinity for working with local communities and excellent communication skills to manage relationships with them
- Ability to develop field activities such as technical visits, data capture, visit planning, and landowner relations
