What You Will Do As a Staff Software Engineer at DealMaker, you will shape the technical architecture and drive the successful delivery of complex, high‑impact projects across the business. Architecting for the Future: Lead the design and implementation of key architectural components and systems, ensuring they meet current and future business needs. Anticipate scalability challenges, consider security best practices, and make technology choices that align with the long‑term strategy. Create and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation and guide the team in adhering to established design principles. Driving Solution Design: Own the technical design and implementation of complex solutions, working closely with product managers, stakeholders, and other engineering teams to translate business requirements into effective and efficient technical solutions. Make critical design decisions, resolve technical challenges, and ensure solutions are well documented and easy to maintain. Mentoring and Guiding: Serve as a technical mentor and guide for junior and mid‑level engineers, sharing expertise in architecture, design, and problem‑solving. Foster a culture of technical excellence by providing guidance, conducting code reviews, and helping team members improve their skills and knowledge. Championing Technical Excellence: Promote and champion best practices in software development, including code quality, security, testing, and maintainability. Influence technical decisions across the organization, advocating for effective and efficient solutions. Proactively identify and address technical debt and contribute to ongoing improvement of the technology infrastructure. Collaboration and Communication: Communicate technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences, ensuring clear and concise explanations of complex technical concepts. Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration and contribute to overall company success. You Will Design and implement key architectural components and systems. Lead the technical design and implementation of complex solutions. Mentor and guide junior and mid‑level engineers. Champion best practices in software development. Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams. Proactively identify and address technical debt. Create and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation. What Skills You Need Strong experience in software architecture and design, with the ability to lead technical direction. Proven ability to lead and deliver complex projects. Deep understanding of Agile software development methodologies. Experience with Ruby on Rails and modern front‑end frameworks (Svelte, Vue.js, React.js). Experience with a variety of programming languages and technologies is a plus. Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills. Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
