Your Purpose

This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the legal landscape of a pioneering organization in the cryptocurrency space. You will be critical in ensuring our compliance and legal integrity while supporting our growth and innovation.

Who You Are

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in Colombia.
  • More than 10 years of legal experience, focusing on financial services, corporate law, or technology, preferably in the cryptocurrency or fintech sectors.
  • Strong understanding of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and provide timely, actionable legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience managing legal teams and fostering collaboration across departments.

What You Will Do

Legal Compliance & Regulation:
  • Monitor and interpret developments in cryptocurrency regulations and legal frameworks globally, ensuring the organization complies with all relevant laws.
  • Advise on regulatory issues related to anti-money laundering (AML), know your customer (KYC), securities law, and data protection.
Contract Management:
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including partnership agreements, service agreements, and terms of service for customers.
  • Ensure contractual documents meet legal standards and protect the organization’s interests.
Risk Management:
  • Identify potential legal risks associated with business strategies and operational activities, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide guidance on emerging risks related to new technologies, market regulations, and industry practices.
Litigation Management:
  • Manage any disputes or litigation involving the organization, coordinating with external legal counsel when necessary.
  • Develop and implement strategies for dispute resolution and mitigation.
Corporate Governance:
  • Support the Board of Directors and executive leadership with legal advice on corporate governance, structuring, and compliance issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of board materials and regulatory filings.
Policy Development:
  • Establish internal policies and compliance programs related to legal risk management, financial operations, and user protection.
  • Educate employees on legal policies and compliance through training and workshops.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Work closely with internal teams (e.g., product development, compliance, finance, and marketing) to ensure legal considerations are integrated into business decisions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all legal inquiries and issues within the organization.
