Purpose Scotiabank’s Global Technology Services (GTS) Pega Operations is a DevOps department that is responsible for maintaining 60+ Pega applications across Private Cloud, Azure Cloud, and On Prem environments. They provide 24x7 support functions to critical applications used by our Digital Channel, Branch Channel and Contact Center, serving the Bank’s customers. There will be some rotational shifts, covering late afternoons, evenings or overnight, and could include weekends and statutory/bank holidays on call support. Accountabilities The Pega Systems Administrator will perform day‑to‑day system operation support, including system outage management, system monitoring of PRPC runtime health, and ensuring connectivity to backend resources is not interrupted. Perform day‑to‑day incident management and respond to issues reported from the various Development Teams, identify root causes, resolve or properly escalated issues until resolved. Pega Systems Administrator should have a solid understanding of Pega applications with advanced troubleshooting skills of Pega Systems, AIX, Linux, JBOSS, Tomcat and Azure Cloud experience. Manage day‑to‑day customer issues, screen sharing, hotfix installation, software upgrades, manage security vulnerabilities and operational risks within the environment. Ability to speak on a conference bridge while performing troubleshooting and screen sharing on customer calls or major incidents. Create and execute Change records and change tasks for application and infrastructure. Strong focus on customer service excellence, leadership, and software development methodology. Must be proactive, dynamic, demonstrate initiative, eagerness to learn and thrive on challenge. Proactive monitoring of systems and ensure issues are fixed in a timely efficient manner to avoid/prevent outage. Manage troubleshooting effort to resolve high‑impact issues on conference bridge and provide updates to the client on progress. Provide technical expertise, guidance, advice to client on all aspects of Pega application. Deep understanding and experience working with Linux, AIX commands and troubleshooting of system issues. Responsible for creation and walkthroughs of checklist to ensure quality and completeness of planned Change activity. Work closely with application stakeholders, engineering teams to resolve complex issues. Coordinate and execute hotfixes, patch updates to systems. Manage Disaster recovery execution and coordination and Security Vulnerabilities remediation. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be incorporated into day‑to‑day activities and decisions. Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and Global Sales Principles, while ensuring adherence to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk controls. Champion a high‑performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment. Education / Experience / Other Information 2+ Years of System Administrator experience (AIX, LINUX, JBOSS, Azure Cloud). Experience with Azure. Experience with any BPM (Business Process Management tool) and interest in learning about Pega Systems. 2+ years’ working experience of Power Shell Scripting, Phyton, Java, GIT, BIT Bucket, Fastlane, JBOSS, Tomcat, WebSphere. 1+ Year IP360 & CCM Security vulnerability remediation. Bilingual English/Spanish language skills (B1+ English level).
