Key Responsibilities- Customer Focus: Champion a customer-centric culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Technical Leadership: Provide specialized technical leadership in the analysis, design, development, implementation, and support for fullstack environments.
- Project Management: Responsible for current and future implementation projects within the group, introducing new technologies to meet business objectives and providing technical consultation and guidance to all development projects.
- System Development: Involved in the full systems life cycle and responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing, and supporting CIAD pipelines that are delivered on time and within budget.
- Scripting: Create scripts for pre and post-deployment tasks.
- Code Development: Make recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse of existing code.
- IT Support: Support the IT areas that need development support, ensuring the testing, implementation, and other IT areas have a good understanding of the solutions.
- Risk Management: Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Flexibility: Release deployments usually happen after-hours and on weekends. Flexibility to support during those times is needed.
- Operational Excellence: Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
- High-Performance Environment: Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
- Communication Skills: Very strong English communication skills, both oral and written.
- Experience: 5+ years' experience in a Java Developer role.
- Technical Skills: 5+ years' experience with Java 8 or higher, 3+ years' experience with SpringBoot, familiarity with Postman, REST, SQL server, cloud platform technologies, and other technologies such as NodeJS.
- Education: Post-secondary degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited travel internationally.
