A glimpse into the role and responsibilities...

We're seeking an experienced Senior Android Developer to join our Product Development team, reporting directly to the Head of Engineering. This talented individual will collaborate with internal and external technical customers and product teams to create world-class, market-leading applications.

The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to our software application, services, and platform development. They'll work closely with tech leads and product managers to plan and deliver high-quality services.

  • Design, develop, debug, and test Phone Protect and Kiosk Application features from early project stages to Google Playstore delivery.
  • Lead the implementation of Phone Protect and custom features used by the Phone Protect Platform.
  • Prioritize development of new, unique features that differentiate our product from competitors.
  • Collaborate with the Android Tech Lead, Product Manager, and technical experts to deliver feature-rich applications.
  • Work with QA Engineers to continuously improve product quality.
  • Identify and resolve product defects.
  • Assist with Level 3 support efforts.

To succeed as a Senior Android Developer, you'll possess:

  • Experience in the mobile industry, having worked for a mobile operator or OEM with a strong understanding of Android OS, and involvement in software platforms, applications, products, and services.
  • A solid technical foundation allowing you to engage in deep technical discussions based on experience and understanding, driving rich application development.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with both internal and external partners and synthesize feedback.
  • Creative problem-solving ability and tenacity to tackle complex or ambiguous problems while making thoughtful trade-offs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an Android Developer with a strong portfolio of successfully delivered applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of Android SDK, Kotlin, and Java programming languages.
  • Strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Familiarity with reactive programming paradigms.
  • Experience with modern Android architectural patterns (e.g., MVVM, Clean Architecture).
  • Knowledge of best practices for mobile security and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with revision control, build, CI, and code review tools like Git, and extensive use of Confluence products for collaboration.
  • Ability to excel in demanding environments and adapt to fluid, dynamic company settings.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective collaboration across various functional areas and with external partners and customers.

Desired Knowledge and Experience

  • Android, mobile OEMs, and cloud platforms.

Education and Certifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
