Job Overview:

Pre-sales engineers play a crucial role in guiding the effective utilization of InterSystems' solutions tailored to meet the unique demands of our clientele and their respective industries. Reporting to the Sales Engineering Manager, you will receive strategic insights regarding product and marketing initiatives. This position presents diverse challenges that necessitate a blend of design expertise, coding proficiency, presentation abilities, technical architecture knowledge, sales insight, business intelligence, advocacy, mentoring, and training. Expect to travel approximately 20% of your time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Explore and showcase the integration of InterSystems products with various third-party technologies.
  • Maintain the technical rapport with customer accounts, ensuring they are informed about the latest advancements.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities within established accounts.
  • Create and present Proofs of Concept (PoCs) for potential clients and partners to demonstrate the suitability, user-friendliness, performance, features, reliability, and connectivity of InterSystems technology.
  • Engage in comprehensive business and technical discussions across all levels and departments within the customer's organization to promote the adoption and deployment of InterSystems technologies.
  • Advise on technical architecture, database design, migration strategies, and operational best practices.
  • Install InterSystems software and assist in benchmarking to identify optimal deployment configurations.
  • Act as a hands-on lead application developer, providing guidance to partners and prospects, especially during initial adoption phases or challenging technical projects.
  • Offer application programming expertise in SQL, ObjectScript, and additional technologies.
  • Provide programming support in Python.
  • Deliver corporate presentations to InterSystems' clients and prospects at various events, covering strategic and tactical technical directions along with product demonstrations.
  • Conduct formal training sessions on InterSystems technologies.
  • Support clients and prospects during beta testing or pre-launch activities, providing feedback to development teams.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and collaborate with the World-wide Response Centre (WRC) to resolve technical issues.
  • Provide consulting services to the Sales Department and other InterSystems divisions (Marketing, Support, Development, Documentation, etc.) as needed.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience in the design, development, and deployment of complex applications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of IT industry trends and market demands, with expertise in application and database integration.
  • Extensive experience with two or more databases such as Caché, Oracle, SQLServer, Sybase, Informix, or DB2/UDB, including database schema design, SQL proficiency, installation, configuration, and performance optimization.
  • Strong business analysis and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Awareness of the business implications of application development, support, and deployment.
  • Familiarity with HTML5 and modern web frameworks like Angular, along with design libraries such as Bootstrap, ensuring server-side communication via REST.
  • Proficiency in English: Intermediate/Advanced.

Desirable:

  • At least two years of programming experience with demonstrable expertise in object-oriented languages such as C#, .NET, Python, C++, or Java/J2EE.
  • General knowledge of Cloud Infrastructure platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Understanding of Containers and Kubernetes.
  • Proven leadership or technical management experience in an application development setting.
  • Familiarity with competing application frameworks such as .NET and Java, along with practical experience in at least one major application server (e.g., .NET, WebSphere, WebLogic, TomCat, Wildfly, etc.).

Education:

  • A degree in computing, engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
