Job Description

The Lead Backend Software Engineer plays a critical role in developing and maintaining the core backend services that power our digital display solutions. This position is essential in ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of our applications, directly supporting seamless client experiences. You will design cloud-native architectures on AWS, implement CI/CD pipelines, and write clean, testable code using Node.js and TypeScript. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, this position involves guiding feature development, setting coding standards, and mentoring fellow engineers.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead the development of backend services, ensuring code quality and scalability.
  2. Design and implement cloud-native architectures using AWS and Terraform.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  4. Write clean, maintainable, and testable code using Node.js and TypeScript.
  5. Implement robust unit testing and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  6. Understand and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate software deployment.
  7. Drive best practices in coding standards, testing, and operational excellence.
  8. Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize backend performance and scalability.
  9. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers.
  10. Work closely with product managers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  11. Ensure timely delivery of high-quality software that meets business objectives.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in backend development with a focus on Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Strong experience with AWS (Lambda, S3, ECS, RDS, etc.) and cloud-native architecture.
  • Expertise in Docker.
  • Expertise in Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Proficiency in writing unit tests and ensuring quality with modern testing frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with building and scaling distributed systems in a cloud environment.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality software within time constraints.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Must have own computer (relevant software and subscriptions provided).
  • Excellent English verbal and written language proficiency (C1-C2 in CEFR Scale).
  • Access to a quiet work area at home with reliable internet (50 Mbps or more).

Salary

We offer a competitive salary range of $4,000 - $7,000 USD per month, depending on experience and location.
