About the Role

The World Bank Group is seeking a highly skilled Mediation Officer to join its Mediation and Formal Reviews Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for the prompt and efficient administration of mediation services, including mediating and managing cases from intake to closure, designing and delivering training, and facilitating group interventions and conducting team building activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mediate and manage cases from intake to closure
  • Design and deliver training on conflict resolution, negotiation skills, and communication
  • Facilitate group interventions and conduct team building activities
  • Prepare blogs, case summaries, and contribute to internal reports
  • Conduct outreach activities to raise awareness about mediation services
  • Provide analytical insight, conduct research, and provide professional support to the Manager
  • Identify patterns and analyze issues in the region, and contribute to WBG/EIJ initiatives and activities
  • Represent the office and provide direction and guidance in the absence of the Manager
  • Assist with the management of the Mediation Roster
Requirements
  • Masters' degree or equivalent in law, conflict resolution, organizational development, social science, or other related fields
  • Minimum five years' experience in mediating workplace disputes, including interpersonal conflict, employment contract, and ethical/respectful behaviors
  • Certificate of professional training as a mediator (40 hours minimum)
  • Proven experience facilitating group interventions and moderating team activities
  • Proven training skills and experience in developing and delivering training
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish; fluency in Portuguese is desirable
  • Proven problem-solving skills and emotional acumen
  • Strong theoretical base in dispute resolution, combined with a broad grasp of relevant theory and best practices
  • Ability to translate theory of dispute resolution concepts into practical application in the context of WBG work
  • Ability to participate productively in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, inspire trust, and demonstrate high personal integrity
  • Excellent and proven interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to promote and contribute to a collaborative team environment, build trust among colleagues, work effectively across disciplines and organizational boundaries, and effectively handle conflict
  • Additional certification in Behavioral Assessments, Conflict Management, Coaching, or Organizational Consulting is desirable
  • Knowledge and experience working in Latin America is highly desirable
  • Willingness to travel as and where necessary
