Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Integration Specialist to join our team at ScotiaTech. As a Data Integration Specialist, you will be responsible for contributing to the overall success of the Global Wealth Engineering across wealth regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Develop ETL code and build packages based on existing standards and suggest improvements when possible.
  • Develop and test code from design specifications, as well as implement and support enhancements to applications.
  • Work in close collaboration with Business Analysts and other cross-functional team members in creating design documents, outlining overviews, diagrams, technical requirements, and solutions that best address business needs.
  • Participate in technical discussions, client meetings, and presentations of solutions to technical team members and Business.
  • Participate in code reviews of peers and junior team members and recommend suggestions for improvement where appropriate to ensure high-quality products.
  • Assist in production support issues and carry after-hours support phones on a rotational basis.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.

Dimensions

  • Approx. 10 to 12 team members (FTE + Cont)
  • Data Integration, ETL, Data Engineering Practice, Data Governance activities
  • 2 to 5 projects on the go at the same time (new, ongoing)
  • IT Risk management, DBR Participation activities
  • E2E SDLC knowledge to have a big picture

Requirements

  • The incumbent must be a creative, self-starting, results-oriented, and highly motivated individual with very good analytical skills to apply this knowledge to assist in the resolution of complex business problems.
  • 2+ years of ETL experience using ETL tools specifically Talend and DataStage.
  • 2+ years reading and writing SQL Queries.
  • 2+ years' experience with relational databases with a good knowledge of SQL Scripting, database structures, principles, and design theories are a must-have.
  • Willing to learn Cloud Technologies like GCP and Azure.
  • Must have some working knowledge with methods of release Management, change management, and code promotion.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering, or related field required.
  • Nice to have experience in Wealth Management industry.
