About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Funding Officer to join our team in Canada. As a key member of our Funding department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our business strategies and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Verify and process incoming requests from supported units, branches, solicitors/notaries, and other partners.
  • Conduct investigations to resolve exception situations, complete complex adjustments or corrections, and answer general procedural queries.
  • Respond independently to correspondence and telephone inquiries by ensuring that action is taken to fully address inquiries.
  • Acquire and maintain good knowledge of all department functions/processes and a thorough knowledge of the systems used, including a working knowledge of related retail products and services.
  • Take ownership for self-learning and personal development planning, working with your leader in the identification of skills, behaviors, and competencies required to achieve goals.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of your respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.

  • Primary Manager: Manager, Funding
  • Direct Reports: None
  • Shared Reports: None

Dimensions

  • Provides Funding processing support for more than 900 branches in the domestic/Canadian branch network, including more than 50 Quebec-based branches.
  • Funds in excess of 175,000 mortgage purchase/refinances and 114,000 STEP Restructures per year.
  • Handles 100,000 branch and lawyer calls relating to mortgage funding per year.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and a minimum of 2 years of office work-related experience.
  • Basic Computer Skills, including common software tools (Microsoft Office products).
  • Experience providing product and process support over the phone and/or through e-mail.
  • Knowledge of the mortgage industry and products, or relevant experience.
