Your role is crucial to the overall success of the organization, ensuring that specific individual targets, plans, and initiatives are executed in alignment with the team's business strategies and objectives. You will ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote a customer-centric culture to enhance client relationships and leverage broader organizational relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies such as iteration planning, iteration reviews, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.
  • Establish a platform for discussing vision, objectives, and Product Backlog items within the team.
  • Utilize techniques for effective workflow visualization and management (e.g., Kanban or Scrum Boards).
  • Identify, manage, and assist in mitigating issues and risks, focusing on the timely removal of impediments for the team and directing obstacles to the appropriate owners for swift resolution.
  • Facilitate the identification and implementation of improvement strategies to enhance team productivity and the quality of deliverables.
  • Ensure team execution and delivery of committed sprint work – maintaining the initiative's momentum and upholding a sustainable pace of delivery; track agile metrics to provide statistical evidence of momentum and sustainability.
  • Comprehend long-term product planning/roadmap and influence the Product Owner to engage in discussions with development teams to achieve quicker gains for the benefit of the end user.
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner to ensure that appropriate lightweight documentation (captured in artifacts such as program vision statements, program backlogs, program roadmaps, release plans, sprint backlogs, and increments) is prioritized and added to the team's backlog of work.
  • Adhere to Scotiabank policies and procedures for project delivery.
  • Develop a strong partnership with the Product Owner to gain a thorough understanding of objectives, maintaining open dialogue to manage the product backlog efficiently.
  • Influence a diverse range of stakeholders (business, compliance, legal, IT, etc.) to eliminate impediments and maximize team output.
  • Support and educate the Product Owner on agile principles and practices to shield the team from external pressures that may hinder productivity.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be integrated into daily activities and decision-making.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of daily business controls to meet obligations related to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive workplace.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master in a recent project/initiative within a genuine agile environment.
  • Experience in coordinating and/or leading large cross-functional/cross-regional teams on significant organizational projects.
  • Prior project management experience is advantageous.
  • Possession of a Scrum Master Certification (CSM) or another Scrum Master certification is preferred.
  • KMP I (Kanban Systems Design) certification is a plus.
  • SAFe certification is also a plus.
  • English proficiency at B2 level.
