About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Software Development Associate. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our department by executing specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives in support of our business strategies and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Resolve issues related to unplanned disruptions or degradation of service within non-production environments.
  • Implement, maintain, and support application releases to meet the business needs of our organization and scale as we grow.
  • Provide regular input and updates to our documented inventory of environments.
  • Stay up-to-date with the industry's technical direction and tap into our business directions.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and problem resolution to prevent incident occurrence within our testing environments.
  • Assist in implementing strategies to avoid risks during production delivery and code changes during testing for implications on environmental needs.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on the applications we support within the team, providing training and support as needed.
  • Communicate regular statuses on the various activities being performed.
  • Work closely with Value Stream, CCA TechOps, and QA teams to understand testing requirements and provide options and recommendations for addressing testing needs.
  • Provide feedback to Value Stream, CCA TechOps, and QA teams in test strategies from an environment and deployment perspective.
  • Continuously review and identify improvement opportunities for team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage and execute a full-scale release of multiple applications and schedules from an operational perspective.
  • Create build and deployment pipelines for applications in CI servers like Azure DevOps Server, IBM UrbanCode Deploy, and Jenkins.
  • Have a good understanding of CI Tools like Azure DevOps for administration and support to the development community.
  • Build and maintain DEV Testing environments to support Development testing Application Codes.
  • Install, configure, and manage infrastructure on public cloud platforms like Azure, Google Cloud, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Create scripts for pre and post-deployment tasks.
  • Manage product backlogs and bugs using tools like Jira.
  • Automate day-to-day jobs using scripting languages like Python.
  • Administer and maintain Windows servers, perform MS Vulnerability patching, and VM maintenance.
  • Knowledge of AS400 and RPG programming language is an asset.
  • Participate in data centre operations like server maintenance, backup, and storage tape management.
  • Release deployments typically occur after-hours and on weekends, requiring flexibility to support during those times.
  • Be involved in the full systems life cycle and be responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing, and supporting CIAD pipelines that are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Contribute to the design of new applications and undertake enhancements.
  • Make recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse of existing code.
  • Participate in component and data architecture design; performance monitoring, product evaluation, and buy vs. build recommendations.
  • Provide front-line operations support and coordination when pipeline/utility problems occur.
Reporting Relationships

This role reports to a Senior Manager and has direct reports to a Senior Manager. There are also shared reports with a Colombia Local Manager.

Dimensions
  • Support CCA Technology in the deliverables of the department.
  • Support multiple projects with multiple departments, sometimes with competing projects.
  • This role requires interaction with multiple departments that we support and a good understanding of our role versus what we do not lead is critical in meeting deadlines.
Requirements
  • Computer Science Diploma or Degree; or related work experience (systems, software engineering).
  • 2 – 3 years of experience in support – development (automation).
  • Java, Python.
