Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer Associate to join our Innovation team in Canada. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the overall success of the team by executing individual goals, plans, and initiatives in support of our business strategies and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Build software following given requirements, working closely with the development team.
  • Work closely with the Product Owner and other SMEs to interpret requirements and translate them to software solutions for multiple projects.
  • Create intuitive UIs that make it easy for users to navigate applications.
  • Support the team in designing and developing proof of concepts to show value.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.

Requirements

  • 2+ years working with React, Node.js, and Python.
  • 2+ years working with fluency on Linux environment with command line and shell scripting.
  • 2+ years working with SQL.
  • Working knowledge of MongoDB.
  • Broad and deep technical knowledge, ranging from front-end UIs through to back-end systems.
  • Working knowledge of version control software such as Git.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-directed - works effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge & experience in development.
