Nature and Purpose

The LATAM Technical Manager will oversee the R&D Laboratories in Latin America, aligning technology initiatives with the Global R&D strategy and business strategies in the regions.

  • Responsible for the technical team members in all of LATAM.
  • Support efforts to provide technical support in all the LATAM countries we service.

You will lead science-driven project teams responsible for planning, managing, supporting, and executing R&D projects at the Vantage Personal Care technology organization in LATAM.

This role requires collaboration with various functions within the Personal Care organization, including New Product Development, Marketing, Product Management, Manufacturing Technology, Legal, Regulatory, Sourcing, etc.

Frequent travel to other Vantage lab locations and customer sites may be required.

You will work closely with the Global NPD team and collaborate with the LATAM commercial team to ensure close alignment.

Cross-functional collaboration between business units, plant sites, suppliers, and external partners is essential to help solve customer challenges and drive optimization effectiveness of process/procedures and best practices associated with application/formulation development.

Responsibilities

  • Management of the activities developed by Application Laboratories in LATAM, focusing on strategic technologies and creating market-relevant concepts.
  • Leading the team to achieve company goals and objectives, while supporting their professional development.
  • Assist and advise the LATAM R&D team, identifying and solving problems.
  • Provide technical support addressing customers' current and future needs, requirements, opportunities, competitive intelligence, and technology trends.
  • Evaluate performance and design clinical studies for Global New Product Development.
  • Cultivate cross-functional collaboration between technical teams and business units to help solve customer challenges.
  • Leverage scientific principles, methodologies, new technologies, and deep customer and market insights.
  • Develop technical training programs for sales teams and representatives.
  • Offer personalized assistance to sales teams and representatives during joint visits.
  • Transform learning and insights into effective business opportunities.
  • Maintain a safe work environment through good lab practices.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is required.

  • Possess specialization or an MBA or PhD.

Languages:

  • English – Fluent (Speak, Reading, Writing)
  • Spanish – Fluent (Speak, Reading)
  • Portuguese – Fluent (Speak, Reading)

Technical Knowledge:

  • Cosmetology: Strong understanding of cosmetic formulation development (various segments, skin care, hair care, sun care, color cosmetics).
  • Desirable knowledge of sensory evaluation/technology transfer.

Skills/Specialized Training Required:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a technical discipline (research, development, technical service, or process development).
  • Proven supervisory or management skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated successful background.
  • Good people skills (verbal and written communication skills).
  • Interpersonal skills with customers and other functions within the business.

Software Knowledge:

  • Office pack (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), CRM.

Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000 per annum
