This senior-level role reports directly to the Director of Accounting and primarily focuses on ensuring the accurate recording of expenses along with related balance sheet assets and liabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guaranteeing precision and promptness in accounting for operating expenses, vendor costs, payroll expenditures, lease accounting, capital expenditures deferrals, depreciation, amortization, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, and other areas overseen by the general ledger accounting team.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of processes and procedures for accurate and timely expense recognition, capitalization, and classifications.
  • Aiding in the enhancement of financial application utilization through tools such as PeopleSoft Query, PowerBI, Oracle Fusion, and others to meet GAAP reporting standards, including quarterly and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Ensuring compliance with expense recognition, capital expenditures, deferrals, and vendor expense cutoff policies, while managing these policies through internal controls and exception reporting within financial systems. Regularly communicating these policies to the business.
  • Leading the monthly closing process to ensure an accurate and timely closure of operating expenses, accounts payable, and capital expenditure ledgers.
  • Preparing journal entries for expenses and balance sheets, along with account reconciliations, adhering to strict closing deadlines.
  • Reviewing vendor contracts and invoices to ensure correct expense recognition.
  • Supporting third-party auditors to facilitate timely year-end audit and review preparations.
  • Collaborating closely with other finance and operations team members to assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue forecasts and planning.
  • Aiding in the maintenance of internal controls affecting all accounting areas managed by the general ledger accounting team.
  • Supporting the general ledger accounting team in collaboration with IT, operations, and other accounting members to drive improvements in accounting systems and reporting.

The Candidate:

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Strong work ethic, excellent communication, and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of GAAP and other authoritative guidance.
  • Detail-oriented with outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to engage with employees at various levels.
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Accounting, with 2-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficient in computer skills, particularly Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English at CEF B2 level or above.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle Financials, or other Accounting ERPs.
