Job Overview:

As a Financial Operations Lead, you will oversee and manage our financial operations, ensuring the accuracy of accounting records using NetSuite. You'll ensure compliance with local regulations and provide valuable insights to management by translating financial documents and reports from Spanish to English. This role is crucial in maintaining financial integrity and supporting informed decision-making within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily operations, including processing Accounts Payable transactions, managing bank account transactions and reconciliations, and liaising with management and the operations team.
  • Oversee administrative functions, build and lead an accounting team capable of functioning from bookkeeping to financial reporting, and train and supervise accounting team members.
  • Maintain accounting records, including overseeing and updating the company's accounting books using NetSuite, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and classified, and performing monthly account reconciliations.
  • Handle compliance and taxation, including preparing and submitting DIAN tax filings and other government requirements in compliance with Colombian tax laws, managing statutory compliance and regulatory reporting, and coordinating and communicating with external auditors, government agencies, and consultants.
  • Prepare and present reports, including preparing financial reports in Spanish and translating key documents and insights into English for management use, assisting in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities, reconciling accounts and explaining variances, and presenting financial data to management and external stakeholders clearly.
  • Manage systems, including maintaining the accounting system to ensure data integrity, accurate financial reporting, and proper internal controls, and assisting in establishing processes and policies for effective bookkeeping and accounting practices.
  • Communicate and collaborate, including working closely with the finance team, management, and external advisors to ensure financial accuracy and transparency, liaising with external auditors, tax authorities, and other relevant third parties regarding audits and financial inquiries, and communicating financial updates and tax compliance issues to management in English.
Requirements:
  • C1-C2 level proficiency in English.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Colombia, with the ability to legally represent and sign financial documents.
  • Proven experience in managing accounting operations, compliance, and taxation within Colombia.
  • Proficiency in NetSuite or similar ERP systems is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Colombian accounting standards and DIAN requirements.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, with exceptional ability to translate financial concepts and documents.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize a demanding workload.
