Job Overview

As an Accounting Manager at Emapta Latam, you will oversee and manage our financial operations, ensuring the accuracy of accounting records using NetSuite. You'll ensure compliance with local regulations and provide valuable insights to management by translating financial documents and reports from Spanish to English. This role is crucial in maintaining financial integrity and supporting informed decision-making within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations:
    • Process Accounts Payable transactions.
    • Manage bank account transactions and reconciliations.
    • Liaise with management and the operations team.
    • Oversee administrative functions.
    • Build and lead an accounting team capable of functioning from bookkeeping to financial reporting.
    • Train and supervise accounting team members.
  • Maintain accounting records:
    • Oversee and update the company's accounting books using NetSuite.
    • Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and classified.
    • Perform monthly account reconciliations.
    • Ensure compliance with local accounting principles, company policies, and standards.
  • Handle compliance and taxation:
    • Prepare and submit DIAN tax filings and other government requirements in compliance with Colombian tax laws.
    • Manage statutory compliance and regulatory reporting, including income tax, VAT, payroll taxes, and other local obligations.
    • Coordinate and communicate with external auditors, government agencies, and consultants.
  • Prepare and present reports:
    • Prepare financial reports in Spanish and translate key documents and insights into English for management use.
    • Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities, reconciling accounts and explaining variances.
    • Present financial data to management and external stakeholders clearly.
  • Manage systems:
    • Maintain the accounting system to ensure data integrity, accurate financial reporting, and proper internal controls.
    • Assist in establishing processes and policies for effective bookkeeping and accounting practices.
  • Communicate and collaborate:
    • Work closely with the finance team, management, and external advisors to ensure financial accuracy and transparency.
    • Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and other relevant third parties regarding audits and financial inquiries.
    • Communicate financial updates and tax compliance issues to management in English.
    Requirements
    • C1-C2 level proficiency in English.
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Colombia, with the ability to legally represent and sign financial documents.
    • Proven experience in managing accounting operations, compliance, and taxation within Colombia.
    • Proficiency in NetSuite or similar ERP systems is highly preferred.
    • Strong understanding of Colombian accounting standards and DIAN requirements.
    • Bilingual in Spanish and English, with exceptional ability to translate financial concepts and documents.
    • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize a demanding workload.
