The International Rescue Committee is seeking a highly skilled Data Protection Specialist to join our team. As a Data Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for creating and enforcing data protection policies, negotiating data sharing agreements, and providing technical recommendations to ensure compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Collaboration and Compliance:
- Collaborate with the Signpost technology and product development teams to embed data protection principles.
- Provide technical guidance to ensure development efforts align with data protection policies.
- Implement risk mitigation measures and conduct quality assurance of data anonymization.
- Audit data security practices across major platforms used by Signpost.
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments to identify vulnerabilities and develop strategies.
- Create and implement comprehensive data protection policies for the VR&P program.
- Collaborate with partner organizations on data sharing agreements.
- Collaborate with IRC procurement and legal on Vendor and Third-Party Risk Management.
- Engage with General Counsel on service contracts involving personal data processing.
- Support management of personal data breaches affecting clients.
- Engage with stakeholders to ensure adherence to data protection standards.
- Train staff on data protection principles and practical implementation.
- Contribute to strategic planning of Signpost's technology roadmap.
- Support Product Lead and Manager in prioritizing development tasks.
Requirements:
- 3-7 years of experience in data protection, cybersecurity, or related fields.
- Experience in technical project management or product development.
- Familiarity with conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Data Protection Law, or related disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in data protection or privacy (CIPP, CIPT, GDPR principles).
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Data Protection Law, or related disciplines.
Working Environment: Remote
