The specialist in Governance and Public Policies for Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLC) is part of the Community-Based Conservation (CBC) team of the conservation program for Colombia. It works closely with each of its members and articulates with the public policy team for the design and implementation of strategies, actions and methods that promote the protection and recognition of the IPLC in the construction, design and consolidation of instruments of policy with multiple approaches and on issues related to environmental management, climate change, protection strategies, among others, both at the local, subnational, and national levels. Additionally, she/he leads and collaborates in the planning and implementation of projects and financing in the organization.

The specialist in Governance and Public Policies for Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLC) (IPLC) will be based in the city of Bogotá, under the supervision of the CBC program leader.

The specialist in Public Policies and Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLC), under the guidance and leadership of the CBC program leader, formulates and implements strategies to strengthen the direct participation of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities in public policy. local, regional and national. Additionally, it generates and implements political advocacy strategies for the development of norms, policies, financing mechanisms and other instruments that strengthen the recognition and protection of the Voice, Action and Choice (VCA) of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities at the local level., regional and national (in coordination with the public policy program).

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan strategies to strengthen the participation of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLC) in public policy and decision-making processes at the local, regional and national levels.
- Serve as a link with national and supranational organizations of Indigenous Peoples and local communities for the planning and implementation of actions aimed at promoting participation and improving the institutional framework and public policy.
- Manage the relationship with local and regional institutions to promote the participation of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLC) in decision-making. For the relationship with national actors that has this same purpose, under the guidance and leadership of the CBC program leader, agree with the public policy program on the relationship route
- Develop technical inputs to strengthen policies, regulations, and other institutional mechanisms to promote the recognition, protection, and participation of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLC).
- Carry out analysis of different public policy instruments that include multi-stakeholder platforms, public policies, financial instruments, participation schemes, bills, regulation and protection schemes, among others, with multiple themes associated with climate change, environmental regulation and management, comprehensive management of biodiversity and ecosystem services, to ensure effective inclusion of IPLC.
- Contribute to the planning and structuring of financing proposals in actions associated with strengthening the participation and recognition of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLC) in public policy, regulations, and institutions.
- Under the guidance of the CBC program leader, articulate with the public policy program for the development and implementation of political advocacy actions at the national and international levels.
- Articulate and manage alliances with strategic actors to strengthen the participation of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLC) in public policy and decision-making processes at the local, regional and national levels.
- Contribute to TNC's strategic planning processes, which include the formulation of theories of change, impact assessment exercises, development of indicators, among others.
- Develop other activities of the position delegated by the CBC program.
