The MEL activity provides technical and advisory services to USAID in the following components: (1) Monitoring; (2) Performance and Impact Assessments; (3) Research, Assessments, and Data Analysis; (4) Geographic Information Services (GIS) and (5) Collaboration, Learning, and Adaptation tasks (CLA).
USAID/Colombia requested that the MEL activity measure, monitor, and generate information on the potential effect of different conservation approaches that Amazon Alive Activity is developing in the Colombian Amazon region. The information collected will enable the creation of decision-making tools for the conservation management of biodiversity. The measurement for this study will be carried out in three geographic areas to be defined by USAID/Colombia. This requires designing a methodology that includes different measurement scales and various intervals for the collection of information.
Accordingly, the MEL Activity requires the contracting of a data analysis coordinator to support the measurement team in the management, processing, and analysis of both primary and secondary data. The data analysis coordinator will also be responsible for managing the data sets according to the norms and standards defined by USAID/Colombia.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Prepare the bioindicator analysis plan.
- Provide inputs for the elaboration of the methodological design.
- Discuss the bioindicator analysis plan with the team.
- Analyze time series concerning tropical forest cover in the target geography.
- Analyze the degree of connectivity between coverages in the target geography using the mammal data.
- Analyze community structure in the target geography using bird data
- Analyze the quality and degree of habitat conservation in the target geography using the beetle data.
- Prepare inputs (analytical sheets, tables, figures) for partial and final assessment products.
- Validate with experts the results of the analyses.
- Ensure data management according to the norms and standards established by USAID/Colombia.
- Work with the consultant team leader and the technical writer to produce products for USAID.

USAID/Colombia ha solicitado a la Actividad MEL medir, monitorear y generar información sobre el efecto potencial de las diferentes acciones que la Actividad Amazonía Mía viene desarrollando en la región amazónica de Colombia. La información recolectada permitirá crear herramientas para la toma de decisiones en el manejo de la conservación en biodiversidad. La medición se realizaría en tres puntos geográficos definidos por USAID/Colombia, lo cual exige diseñar una metodología que comprenda diferentes escalas de medición y diferentes tiempos para la recolección de la información.
Con base en lo anterior, la Actividad MEL requiere la contratación de un coordinador de análisis de datos para apoyar al equipo de la medición en la gestión, tratamiento y análisis de los datos tanto primarios como secundarios. Igualmente, el/la coordinador/a de análisis de datos será responsable de administrar los conjuntos de datos conforme a las normas y estándares definidos por USAID/Colombia.
**Deberes y Responsabilidades**:
- Preparar el plan de análisis de los bioindicadores
- Proporcionar insumos para la elaboración del diseño metodológico
- Discutir con el equipo el plan de análisis de bioindicadores.
- Analizar las series de tiempo en relación con la cobertura de bosque tropical en la geografía focalizada
- Analizar el grado de conectividad entre coberturas en la geografía focalizada usando los datos de mamíferos
- Analizar la estructura de las comunidades en la geografía focalizada usando los datos de aves
- Analizar la calidad y grado de conservación del hábitat en la geografía focalizada usando los datos de escarabajos
