Overall Perspective of the Role:

As a skilled Senior Database Administrator (DBA) specialized in Multi-Database Management, you will play a crucial role in our team by supervising the creation, execution, and upkeep of different database systems. Utilizing your proficiency in handling various database technologies, you will guarantee optimal performance, reliability, and security of the database infrastructure. Your responsibilities will involve collaborating with diverse teams to back the organization's database management necessities and push forward strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and setup of database structures for relational (SQL Server, Oracle) and NoSQL databases.
  • Set up and arrange database instances across different environments, encompassing on-premises and cloud-based of Azure.
  • Supervise database performance and resource usage, recognizing and resolving bottlenecks through optimization methods like indexing, query tuning, and database parameter tuning.
  • Execute and preserve high availability solutions, including clustering, replication, and failover mechanisms, ensuring continuous availability of crucial databases.
  • Instate and enforce database security policies and access controls to protect sensitive data. Assure adherence to regulatory stipulations and industry standards through the implementation of proper security measures and auditing practices.
  • Devise and maintain backup and recovery solutions to shield against data loss and aid swift recovery during system failures or disasters.
  • Implement thorough monitoring and alerting solutions to proactively spot problems and guarantee the robustness and performance of database systems.
  • Utilize monitoring tools and dashboards to monitor key metrics and patterns.
  • Conduct capacity planning exercises to predict future resource needs and scale database infrastructure accordingly.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to allocate resources effectively and optimize costs.
  • Create and uphold documentation for database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Respond to database-related incidents and service interruptions promptly, adhering to set incident management procedures.
  • Perform root cause analysis and execute corrective actions to avert recurrences.
  • Formulate and maintain automation scripts and workflows to streamline routine database administration tasks like provisioning, patching, and configuration management.
  • Employ scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) and automation tools to enhance efficiency and consistency. *Optional

To excel in this role, you should possess:

Key Qualifications

  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, focusing on managing multiple database platforms.
  • Intermediate English proficiency (all skills)
  • Proficiency in designing, deploying, and maintaining relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Practical experience with database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and security management.
  • Thorough understanding of database architecture, data modeling, and SQL query optimization techniques.
  • Experience collaborating with cloud-based database services in Azure, other cloud-based databases are optional (e.g., Amazon RDS)
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles are desirable.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to operate in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of ITIL - Agile Methodologies, certifications are a bonus.
  • Pertinent certifications (e.g., MCDBA or Microsoft Azure Database Administrator Associate) are advantageous.
