Practice Area Profile:
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
As a Lead IT Architect, you will work closely with clients to understand their issues, define IT strategies, architecture solutions, win buy-in for your recommendations, and collaborate with fellow BCGers to transform client potential into performance. You will be given end-to-end responsibility for larger, highly technical and more complex "modules" within a project, and begin to develop specialized knowledge to help you solve clients' problems.
You will start to take on team lead responsibilities and demonstrate intellectual leadership:
YOU'RE GOOD AT:
Building community:
- Advising internal colleagues on core technical concepts and frameworks
- Advising fellow architects on areas relevant to an area you have depth in
- Developing a network in the BCG technical community and leveraging it for our clients
Developing & Designing:
- Analysing the status quo and optimization of IT architectures
- Identifying nontrivial technology decisions facing a client
- Storytelling about architectural building blocks and their importance
- Road mapping and business case development
- Defining strategy to improve software development lifecycle including DevSecOps, SRE, and Platform Engineering
- Provide expert view tooling, processes, metrics, and operating model associated to SDLC
Controlling & Managing:
- Reviewing vendor proposals and/or inflight technical work
- IT project management and quality assurance
What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications):
WHAT YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS):
- 10+ years' experience in software development, technical project management, digital delivery or technology consulting
- Ability to bring unique tech perspectives from outside the consulting industry into BCG's typical engagements, requiring:
v Consulting experience is required:
v Strategic mindset (hypothesis driven, 80:20 mindset, iterative approach, activist stance):
v Self-managed:
- Leadership potential to transform the consulting industry in particular around interaction with designers, engineers and POs
v Progressing thought leadership in deep tech:
v New (but proven) methodologies or ways of working:
- Deep understanding and experience of common development methods and tools DevOps practices and Continuous Improvement
- Proven knowledge of software development practices, specially around code quality, security, resilience, and deployment.
- Ability to balance dogmatism and pragmatism to guide decision making. Articulate tradeoffs and drive highimpact technology decisions on topics including (but not limited to) IaaS/PaaS providers, container orchestration, service mesh, API gateways, and commercial vs. open source software.
- Approaches to managing Architectural debt, Architecture governance and maturity journeys
- Micro services topologies, including operational concerns such as resiliency, observability, discovery and routing, security etc.
- Clean code and design patterns (like SOLID, ACID)
- Experience on design and operate a framework to monitoring network and components over a modern architecture
