Your Role
As a Technology Solutions Architect, you will collaborate closely with case team members to evaluate and mentor our clients' IT teams, define IT strategies, and design architectural solutions while leveraging your technical expertise and understanding of business contexts. As you gain experience, you will take ownership of delivering specific project components and contribute to developing technical concepts for those components. Within our BCG Platinion consulting team, you will engage with a variety of technology topics, applying your architectural consulting skills to strategic technology inquiries. You will benefit from a comprehensive training curriculum (the same program as all BCG consultants), along with technology-specific training and mentorship to enhance your skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Development & Design: Assess complex IT application landscapes, evaluate the current state, and optimize IT architectures. Identify significant technology decisions facing clients and articulate the importance of architectural building blocks. Develop roadmaps and business cases.
- Control & Management: Review vendor proposals and ongoing technical work, manage IT projects, and ensure quality assurance. Optimize application development processes.
- Community Building: Provide guidance to internal colleagues on core technical concepts and frameworks, support fellow architects in your areas of expertise, and cultivate a network within the BCG technical community to benefit our clients.
Qualifications
- 4-6 years of experience in software development, technical project management, digital delivery, or technology consulting.
- Ability to introduce unique technological perspectives from outside the consulting industry into BCG's engagements, demonstrating consulting experience and a strategic mindset.
- Leadership potential to innovate within the consulting industry, particularly in collaboration with designers, engineers, and product owners.
- Familiarity with common development methodologies and tools, including DevOps practices and Continuous Improvement.
- Capacity to balance dogmatism and pragmatism in decision-making, articulating trade-offs and driving impactful technology decisions.
- Experience managing architectural debt and understanding architecture governance and evolution.
- Knowledge of microservices topologies, including operational aspects such as resiliency, observability, and security.
- Experience with legacy integration and remediation techniques.
- Deep understanding of various integration patterns and best practices.
- A university degree with strong academic performance in a mathematical-scientific field, information technology, or business administration.
