This position reports to APAC Controller and is based in Paranaque, Philippines.

Senior Legal Entity Controller

Kenvue is currently recruiting for a Senior Legal Entity Controller. The role primarily oversees a number of Legal Entity Controllers and Analysts through the legal entity (LE) financial reporting process, ensuring the integrity and precision of the LE financial statements, tax filings, reporting packages, and other relevant reports for multiple APAC markets. Responsibilities will include streamlining month, quarter, and year-end closings within established timelines, handling high importance/complex items during entity closings, and managing local audits. The position requires interaction with Business Unit (BU) Finance, providing crucial financial data and analysis. Additionally, it includes the recruitment and development of a high-performing accounting team.

What You Will Do

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and develop a team of Legal Entity Controllers and Analysts.
  2. Gain a thorough understanding of each legal entity's jurisdiction to grasp the financial accounting and reporting procedures, bearing in mind the complexities and effect of local laws on the overall company's financial protocols.
  3. Spearhead the timely assembly, submission, and sign off of financial statements, which includes the Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, Cash Flow, alongside local tax requirements, internal reporting packages, and other mandatory reports in alignment with established accounting standards.
  4. Review and approve complex journal entries prepared by accounting teams.
  5. Lead the close process, which includes month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounts for each legal entity within their jurisdiction.
  6. Oversee internal controls and introduce enhancements as necessary to safeguard the integrity of financial information.
  7. Liaise with BU Finance teams to understand trends that may influence LE reporting and tax compliance due to local regulations.
  8. Collaborate with Regional Controller, Consolidations, and Technical Accounting teams to address intricate accounting issues.
  9. Coordinate with external auditors for Legal Entity audits.
  10. Monitor the progress of local audits, supplying necessary aid as required.

Stakeholder Interaction:

  1. Local Finance Director and/or General Manager - The Senior LE Controller will closely support the local FD and/or GM related to all matters pertaining to entity results, financial statements, local filings, and compliance.
  2. Consolidations and Technical Accounting - The Senior LE Controller will actively connect with the Consolidations and the Technical Accounting team for guidance on complex accounting matters.
  3. Regional Controllers - The Senior LE Controller will connect with the regional controllers on complex matters pertaining to entity financial reporting documents and other local filings, audit requests, etc.

What We Are Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's degree or CPA preferred).
  2. A minimum of 9 years of proven experience as a controller or similar roles, preferably in a multinational company.
  3. Fluent in French and English.
  4. Experience in French local GAAP and working with French Workers Council.
  5. Deep understanding of accounting principles, financial legislation, and regulatory standards.
  6. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.
  7. Strong analytical, strategic planning, and decision-making skills.
  8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
  10. Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in a Shared Service Centre of a multinational corporation or BPO.
  2. Experience in a Global Account to Report function of a large multi-state company.
  3. Ability to handle ambiguity and fluid situations, demonstrating a pragmatic approach.
  4. Successfully manage multiple priorities, be very organized and work efficiently to tight deadlines.
  5. Solid US GAAP accounting knowledge.
  6. CPA, CMA, MBA and/or other financial certifications preferred.
  7. Proficient in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  8. Fluent in English, other language skills desirable.
