Job Overview

Plan A Technologies is seeking a pragmatic, high-level Senior Backend Engineer to join our core engineering team. You will be instrumental in evolving our platform from legacy infrastructure to a modern, cloud-native ecosystem.

Please note: you must have at least 5+ years of experience with Golang and Java to be considered for this role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

Modernize Infrastructure: Lead the migration of manually provisioned AWS resources to Terraform (IaC) and bring out-of-band persistence constructs into managed codebases.
System Architecture: Design and maintain high-throughput, event-driven systems using Kafka, gRPC, and Thrift API design.
Standardize Knowledge: Solve documentation fragmentation by establishing a unified, "docs-as-code" standard across repositories and Confluence.

EXPERIENCE

BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of professional experience as a Senior Backend.
Expert-level proficiency in either Go and Java.
API Design: Proven experience with gRPC and Thrift for high-performance service communication.
Previous experience with Postgres.
Nice to have: Kafka.
Strong hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure migration and management.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Excellent organizational, problem solver, and analytical abilities.
Outstanding communication, and interpersonal skills.
Initiative and drive to do great things.
