Senior Accountant

Job Summary

The Sr. Accountant is a Senior-level position reporting directly to the Accounting Supervisor. The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing guidance to other members of the accounting team. The Senior Accountant also assists in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure the organization's financial operations comply with generally accepted accounting principles (IFRS-GAAP).

The Sr. Accountant must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to juggle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands and to seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.

Responsibilities

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Client's accounting department, including managing the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting by preparing and reviewing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Ensure compliance with IFRS-GAAP and other regulatory requirements by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of accounting principles and standards and keeping abreast of changes in accounting regulations and industry trends.
Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data, including reviewing and updating accounting manuals and processes as needed.
Work closely with other departments, such as finance, tax, and audit, to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information and support the organization's overall financial goals.
Provide guidance and support to other members of the accounting team, including training and mentoring junior staff and delegating tasks as needed.
Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses to support decisionmaking and strategic planning.
Participate in special projects and other initiatives as assigned by management.
Reviews accounting documents to ensure accuracy of information and calculations and makes or directs correcting entries.
Prepares, maintains control, and is responsible for subsidiary accounting records involving a variety of transactions and accounts.
The position is also responsible for planning, organizing and control of accounting process flows and adherence to policies and procedures.
In addition, the Sr. Accountant gathers and reports on the department's processing metrics including determining relevant statistical data to measure.

General Requirements

Skills and Experience

English - Spanish Language (Oral and writing B2+ or above).
Bachelor's degree in accounting, with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance.
CPA certification preferred.
Strong knowledge of IFRS-GAAP and other accounting principles and standards.
Demonstrated experience in managing accounting operations.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
Experience with accounting software, such as Oracle, Netsuite or SAP, is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
