JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Data Engineer at Fountain Forward, you will be key in designing, building, and maintaining data infrastructure to support our digital marketing strategies. Collaborating with analysts, CSMs, and other team members, you will ensure data is collected, stored, and processed efficiently and accurately. This role is an excellent opportunity to transition from analytics to engineering and gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge data tools and practices.

Objective: To support the creation, maintenance, and optimisation of the company's databases and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes. The Data Engineer will play a key role in managing data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and supporting the growth of the new Data Management & Visualisation team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Database Management:

Develop, test, and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest, clean, and transform data from various sources (e.g., CRM systems, Google Analytics, Ad platforms, inventory feeds).

Assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining databases to support business needs.

Optimize data storage solutions using databases, data warehouses, and cloud services (e.g., Google Cloud).

Monitor and ensure the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of database data.

Perform database performance optimization and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

ETL Processes:

Understand the data flow for the client data to implement new extraction techniques.

Develop and maintain ETL workflows to collect, transform, and load data into appropriate storage solutions.

Automate data pipelines to ensure timely and efficient data processing.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and implement solutions.

Data Quality Assurance:

Conduct regular data audits to identify and resolve data inconsistencies or inaccuracies.

Implement and monitor processes to maintain high data quality standards.

Support for Visualization:

Prepare data for use in dashboards and visualizations.

Collaborate with the analytics to ensure data is structured and available for reporting needs.

Collaboration:

Work closely with senior team members and leadership to align data processes with business goals.

Provide support for data-related issues raised by internal stakeholders.

Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve processes.

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED SKILLS

Education
:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Technical Skills:

Basic knowledge of database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).

Familiarity with ETL tools and processes (e.g., Apache Airflow, Talend, or custom Python scripts).

Understanding data formats (e.g., JSON, CSV, XML) and APIs.

Proficiency in a programming language such as Python or SQL.

Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus.

Soft Skills:

An analytical mindset and strong attention to detail.

Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.

Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.

Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
