  • Want to be part of an incredible team that's changing lives by helping immigrants secure their future in the United States through asylum?

If that's you, read on.

Political Asylum Lawyers is seeking an HR Generalist and Recruiter who will help strengthen the foundation of our growing, mission-driven team. This role is ideal for someone with solid HR and recruiting experience who enjoys improving systems, supporting people, and ensuring smooth operations across all human resources functions, while also managing or collaborating on recruiting efforts.

Is this position the right fit for you?

Only apply if, after due consideration, you think you can add real value to our outstanding team and can fully commit to supporting our mission of helping immigrants secure their future in the United States through asylum.

  • You must have experience in recruiting, particularly placing professionals into international or U.S.-based roles.
  • We're looking for someone who brings strategic insight into HR operations, compliance, and people systems and who also thrives in supporting talent acquisition efforts.
  • You will manage core HR functions, including onboarding new hires, payroll coordination, benefits tracking, HR recordkeeping, compliance, and ensuring seamless experiences for employees throughout their lifecycle with the firm.
  • Beyond HR operations, you'll be deeply involved in all stages of the recruitment process, from job postings and sourcing to screening and coordinating interviews. You'll partner with leadership to build recruiting strategies and maintain talent pipelines.
  • You'll work closely with leadership on projects involving employee engagement, performance evaluations, policy development, and professional development tracking.
  • You'll work from home and can be located anywhere in the world. You'll need a quiet space, fast internet, and the discipline to stay on task without close supervision.
  • You must be flexible and adapt to change quickly. As our HR and hiring systems evolve, so will the tools and approaches you use.
  • You've got to be open to constructive criticism; your work will be assessed against rigorous standards, and you'll need to quickly and effectively incorporate feedback. You must constantly seek to improve, sharpen your professional skills, and produce better and better results.
  • You may be asked to travel infrequently for in-person training.
  • You must speak both English and Spanish fluently and be comfortable using both professionally—you'll use both languages every day on the job.
  • You've got to be detail-oriented and able to work under pressure while keeping both team and company needs in mind, meeting deadlines, and producing top-notch work.
  • We're looking for growth-oriented people. We believe mindset is everything in this role, so we're looking for someone who is self-confident and ambitious, as well as intellectually curious and into personal and professional development.

To be clear, the work is at times intense: we're doing important—sometimes life-changing—work for clients, and we're serious about promoting a culture of excellence. These expectations extend to how we recruit, onboard, and support our team.

If you can meet our high standards and you're passionate about supporting people who truly need the best help possible as they face a crisis, then you'll find working at Political Asylum Lawyers to be immensely rewarding.

Our work changes lives. Our team takes immense pride in the role we play through our advocacy and client engagement in helping immigrants get safety, stability and freedom. Working here also means a chance to cultivate skills that will serve you for the rest of your career, as we prioritize training and professional development.

What you will get

  • Salary commensurate with experience, but above market norms.
  • In addition to a competitive salary, you will enjoy a work-life balance. While the work will be fast-paced and excellence is expected, you won't be asked to work more than 40 hours per week.
  • Employment through an Employer of Record (EOR) such as Deel or a similar company. This arrangement allows us to hire you legally in your country while ensuring compliance with all local employment laws and regulations. The EOR handles payroll, taxes, and benefits in accordance with your country's requirements.
  • You will also receive all benefits and contributions that employers in your country are required to provide by law to full-time employees. The firm may pay for certain additional, non-obligatory benefits, depending on the country you live in.
  • Opportunities for professional development abound - we love providing time and resources for our employees to acquire and develop skills.
  • You will receive three weeks of vacation annually. Additionally, all employees, including those based outside the United States, are off work on all U.S. federal holidays (11).
  • You'll receive only U.S. holidays. If you're outside the United States, you'll receive any pay required by your country's laws for work that you do on holidays in your country that are not also U.S. holidays.

How to apply

  • To apply, please submit a resume and a cover letter, both of which must be in English.

Your application won't be considered without a cover letter. Your cover letter should explain why you're uniquely qualified for this particular position, and why you would be a great fit for our law firm. Generic, copy/paste cover letters will be discarded.
