Customs Agent

Involves the completion of basic administrative tasks and coordination relating to the front-line operation which may include data entry, ramp activities, sort activities, trace activities, dispatch activities and local customer service.

**General job description**:

- Prepare all necessary customs forms to allow import, export and transit procedures to carry out in a timely, efficient and effective manner for shipments arriving and departing by air, i.e., master guides, cargo manifests and general declarations, invoices and any additional related documentation.
- Prepare forms detailing custom duties, duties and taxes / VAT.
- Prepare international manifests to ensure cargo release in a timely manner.
- Ensure full compliance of all ramp activities with country policies and tax laws and in compliance with FedEx rules, procedures, practices and rules.
- Interact with customs officials and coordinate customs activities with internal staff.
- Contact customers to provide information and inform about any additional tax payments.
- Keep all customs documentation well organized and filed correctly.
- Perform the classification and transfer of cargo to other airlines when required.
- Process submission of flight information through customs computer system.
- Track cases for different shipments.
- Inventory management of loads found in urgent shipping warehouses.
- Control of supplies and inventories.
- Support load-captain function if required

**Experience**:

- Technician/technologist in international trade or business with two years of experience in handling air cargo, procedures, policies, customs laws and regulations and customs clearance processes at the airport.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Driver's license, preferable.
- Good administrative skills and computer knowledge.
- Management of the English language in the customs area.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays when/if required.
