Senior Network Engineer

**Purpose of the role**:
The Network Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyse and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training where required.

**Job role and responsibilities**:
Scope:

- The IT infrastructure Architect will work closely with the NCI project & service delivery area on the DDC (Colombia and Philippines)
- The services will be provided to worldwide Inchcape markets.
- Must design and evaluate (architecture, cost, technology) for Cloud & on-premises environments.
- Active participation on the projects, designing the technical solution and oversee the deployment process to align the implementation with the architecture proposed.

Strategy & Planning
- Collaborate with executive management and department leaders to assess near
- and long-term network capacity needs.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
- Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation.
- Plan, acquire, and coordinate installation of in-house and remote hardware and software across the organization’s network.
- Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.

Operational Management
- Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
- Ensure network connectivity of all technological assets.
- Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
- Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
- Participate in managing all network security solutions.
- Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
- Deploy new equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
- Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
- Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, UPSs, and so on.

Formal Education & Certification
- Four-year university degree in the field of network or telecommunication science and/or 8 years equivalent work experience.
- Certifications in Cloud networking highly regarded.
- Certifications in Cisco, Security,
- Certifications in VMWare & Citrix.
- Certifications in Hyperconverged systems (Nutanix, Simplivity)
- ITIL v3 foundation.
- Agile Scrum

**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:
Knowledge and Experience
- 6 years’ experience managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, etc.
- Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
- Exceptional technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware such as servers, routers, bridges, switches, hubs, modems, network interface cards, and so on.
- Excellent knowledge of current protocols and standards, including IPv4, IPv6, TCP, UDP, GRE, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, etc.
- Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, micro segmentation, and telecommunications principles.
- Experience installing network cabling and patching telephony systems and VoIP services.
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
- Knowledge of MPLS, SDN & SDWAN are required.

Technology
- Strong security experience essential.
- Strong system administration (Routers, Switch, AP, SDWAN, etc.) at the command-line level.
- Enterprise data centre infrastructure (compute, storage, networking, security, DR)
- Strong knowledge of Cloud networking
- Knowledge about Cloud Network security architecture
- Experiences in consolidation of datacentres and hybrid environments.
- Knowledge an several brands of networking (Cisco, Extreme Networks, Dell, Aruba, Arista, HP, Silver Peak, Meraki, etc.)
