**Center Background**: The Center for Reproductive Rights (the Center) is the global leader in using the power of law to advance reproductive rights as fundamental human rights. The overarching goal of the Center’s new Strategic Plan sets a high mark for impact: By 2030, half of the world’s population will be living under stronger protections for reproductive rights than they do today. The Center has a track record of success to back up this ambitious goal. Since its founding in 1992, the Center’s game-changing litigation and advocacy, combined with its unparalleled expertise in constitutional, comparative, and international human rights law, have transformed how reproductive rights are understood by courts, governments, and human rights bodies worldwide on issues including maternal health, contraception, abortion, and assisted reproduction. It has won groundbreaking cases before national courts, U.N. Committees, and regional human rights bodies, led the development of historic, proactive legislation advancing robust protections for reproductive rights, and has built the legal capacity of women’s rights advocates in more than 60 countries and counting.

**The Role**: This a new role within the Center’s LAC Program, this role will lead the integration of advocacy and external relations efforts throughout the program in accordance with the Center’s strategic plan, will lead the LAC program’s efforts to expand its advocacy, partnerships, thought leadership, and strategic communication reach across LAC region and position the organization as a leading voice on Sexual Reproduction Health Rights (SRHR). Under this role the Associate Director for Advocacy and External Relations will oversee the development of evidence-based policy positions in close coordination with technical experts, conceptualize and coordinate the implementation of policy, advocacy, and communications strategies, and represent the Center at global, regional, and national forums. This position will be reporting to the Senior Regional Director for LAC and will collaborate very closely with the Associate director of legal strategies in LAC. This position will also work closely with partners and strategic networks to collectively influence SRHR policies and practices, track organizational engagement efforts and advise the team on opportunities to engage stakeholders and promote research and learning to influence policies.

The position can be based in Bogotá where our regional office is establishes or can work remotely from another LAC country.

**Primary Responsibilities**:
**Advocacy**:
Develop and lead the implementation of a comprehensive legal policy advocacy strategy and provide directions on communications strategy for the LAC program providing strategic direction, oversight, coordination, and priority setting.
Oversee strategic planning of advocacy efforts around key themes and key moments.
Provide leadership to ensure alignment of LAC Program with organizational strategies.
Support the Program to ensure a feminist, human rights and broader SRHR movement intersectional approach across internal and external communications and programming.
Ensure quality of program on influencing agenda across focal countries and with human rights mechanisms and political bodies.
Design and oversee the implementation of advocacy strategies before the Organization of American States.
Plan and manage an advocacy calendar with key moments and events that profile Center’s expertise to key government, multilateral, and other external constituencies.
Oversee a data-driven and inspiring communications content and an external engagement strategy.

**Representation**:
Lead external representation for the Center’s advocacy and policy goals; and
Play a leading role in raising Center’s profile in focal countries and in the region through developing significant relationships with partners, allies, Government development partners, INGOs, UN, human rights bodies, and the media.

**Partnerships**:
Work with Senior Regional Director to ensure key external relationships are developed and well-managed across the region.
