What we do We are part of the Advanced Analytics Group (AAG) which is a global team of Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Software Engineers, Impact Leads and Primary Researchers, working together to find solutions to the most complex problems our clients can have with AI and Machine Learning techniques. The Sr. Manager Supply Chain Advanced Analytics works with Bain’s consulting teams in the Performance Improvement Practice to provide strategic insights that will drive improvements in supply chain operations including network design, manufacturing, logistics and inventory. For this rol you will also work to advance AAG’s and Bain’s supply chain analytics capabilities in the region and globally and provide training to the consulting staff as needed. Who we are looking for We are looking for someone to work with a multidisciplinary team, and who can understand evolving Supply Chain IT systems, data and tools landscape, and assess clients’ Supply Chain IT systems, data and tools to provide recommendations. You will need to assess modeling needs based on client situation and recommend the best advanced analytics tools to support them. **What we expect from you to do is to**: - Manage large data projects including data requests and ETL in preparation for modelling and facilitate client integration - Develop Supply Chain analysis and modeling approaches alongside client/case team with understanding of key Supply Chain performance levers - Build and validate data, simulation and optimization models that diagnose supply chain problems, run scenarios and simulations, and identify best or optimal solutions - Own client relationships (e.g. frequent interactions with IT, co-lead client workshops) - Identify performance improvement opportunities, and provide recommendations - Transfer knowledge and handover to clients - Codify learnings (e.g. data sources, analytics) - Provide training, documentation and other assistance to Bain’s consulting staff to support and expand the use of supply chain tools - Assist in developing a strong Supply Chain advanced analytics capability in South America to support clients within the region and globally **About you**: - Master’s degree or equivalent experience in industrial engineering, operations research, or supply chain management. Ph.D. is a plus. - Practical knowledge of combinatorial optimization modeling (particularly mixed integer programming) and heuristic algorithm development (such as genetic algorithm, simulated annealing, etc.) as applied to solve supply chain and operations challenges - sufficient to design effective solutions that will lead to feasible answers within required business and mathematical constraints - Able to guide development of bespoke optimization solutions using at least one modeling languages/solvers (e.g. Gurobi, Xpress, Cplex, GAMS, AMPL, etc.) - Able to develop and review computer programming code written in Python (or at least one programming language to demonstrate skill required to learn python. - Strong data ETL skills and familiarity with SQL. Extensive database and experience with Supply Chain management system data tables a plus (e.g. WMS, TMS, etc.) - Experience with simulation modeling is a strong plus. (e.g. Anylogic, Simeo, Arena, AutoMod, etc.). - Strong abilities in problem definition and problem solving skills - Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must - Ability to work well with all levels within Bain and at client - Must be able to discuss technical issues with a non-technical audience - Must thrive in a fast paced environment and be able to work independently - Travel required (30% expected) **Benefits**: - 4 days week.
