Our main operation is based on San Jose, Costa Rica, and we have delivery centers and Partner Companies in Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua. We focus on providing specialized outsourcing technology services to clients in the USA and Canada and we are hiring remote and on-site engineers all over Latin America.
**What You’ll Do**

Working directly with the CTO, you will:

- Model the power consumption of commercial/industrial refrigeration systems and buildings through a unique combination of ML and physics-based approaches.
- Develop novel and robust component-level graph-based models, accurately capturing refrigeration system topology and real-world performance, to enable product ideation, simulation, and testing.
- Ensure that we meet industry standards for energy baselining while disrupting the archaic practices of using fudge factors to account for atypical outside air temperatures, seasonal variations, geographic disparities, etc.
- Design, prototype, test, and iterate Virtual Battery control algorithms to achieve power reduction through direct actuation of refrigeration systems.
- Forecast energy loads and optimize Virtual Battery operation to maximize both customer value and climate impact.
- Enhance and extend the predictive maintenance capabilities of Virtual Technician via a digital twin.
- Ideate and prototype Virtual Technician anomaly detection algorithms.
- Design experiments and execute bench scale testing to validate models.
- Collaborate directly with the product and software teams to specify, build, test, and deploy models and algorithms to production.
- Be the nexus of data science, AI/ML, forecasting, optimization, and controls initiatives across the organization. Promote technical best practices throughout.
- Publish white papers, industry reports, blogs, and other content through various AI/ML, energy, and refrigeration / HVAC outlets.

**Who you Are**
**Must have**
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g.,Operations Research, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, etc).
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience in MPC, feature engineering, and time-series forecasting.
- Knowledge of AI/ML models and optimization techniques.
- Proficiency in data processing, modeling, analytics, machine learning, and visualization tools (python, pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Jupyter notebooks, scikit-learn, etc).
- Ability to explain both the code and the underlying math used in algorithms/models.
- Excellent quantitative reasoning and modeling skills; ability to convert raw data and results into insights.Fluency with data visualization to communicate complex topics in approachable ways
- Motivated to contribute at all levels, from strategy and design to testing, troubleshooting, deployment, operation, and customer success.
- Able to learn new technologies and development methodologies rapidly.
- An enthusiastic self-starter who can work with mínimal supervision and generates innovative solutions to tough problems.
- Passionate about technology innovation, commercial/industrial SaaS, energy, and making a positive impact on climate change.
**Great to have**
- Experience with modeling physical thermofluids systems and processes.
- Direct experience in commercial refrigeration and/or HVAC systems and their components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermal expansion valves, and controllers.
- Ability to develop models and algorithms autonomously, generate strategy for algorithmic experimentation, and deploy to production.
- Hands-on experience with MLOps tooling.
Experience in the energy industry, such as experience with utility rates, demand response, and behind-the-meter grid services.
