We are seeking a skilled and motivated **Senior Software Engineer** to join our dynamic Research and Development team. In this role, you will contribute to the evolution and stability of our platform by delivering scalable, reliable, and high-quality code. You will take ownership of feature implementations and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams throughout the entire software development lifecycle. And since we are all distributed, we like to gather around the cool waters of the Caribbean once a year for our regular off-site, where we blow off some steam and re-energize as a group. **What you’ll bring to the team**: - Own the end-to-end development of complex product features—from requirements gathering to implementation, testing, and deployment. - Design solutions with a customer-centric mindset, ensuring features solve real user pain points and deliver measurable value. - Design, implement, and integrate RESTful APIs with a strong focus on performance, scalability, and reliability. - Leverage AI tools and automation to optimize workflows, enhance product capabilities, and improve development efficiency. - Perform functional and integration testing using tools like Postman and Karate to validate feature accuracy and robustness. - Support quality assurance efforts through manual testing and validation of feature completeness. - Participate in peer code reviews to uphold high coding standards and share knowledge across the team. - Actively engage in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, product ideation and kickoff, retrospectives, and product demos. - Contribute to production support activities as needed, helping to monitor, triage, and resolve live issues. - Effectively communicate with stakeholders translating technical concepts into clear business value, and demonstrate delivered features to internal teams. - Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and team collaboration. - Contribute to the product roadmap by identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement based on technical insights and customer feedback. - Ensure all code and processes comply with established security and data privacy requirements. **Why we get excited about you**: - 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java software development, including core Java and frameworks. - Solid understanding and practical experience with REST APIs and Docker (required). - Experience handling the full lifecycle of product changes, from conception to delivery and iteration. - Proven ability to balance technical excellence with business objectives and user needs. - Experience with AI integration or using AI tools to enhance development and product capabilities. - Exposure to front-end technologies such as JavaScript, Angular, or React - Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban). - Strong product thinking abilities—understanding the "why" behind features and how they contribute to the broader product strategy. - Experience writing and maintaining unit and integration tests. - Working knowledge of manual QA practices. - Advanced English communication skills, both verbal and written. - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. **Why should you join?** If you have a great experience but are tired of being a cog in a giant corporate wheel, this job is for you.
