**Bilingual Medical VA (with Medical Billing experience)**

**Client**: Rheumatology Clinic
**Hours**: 30 hours/week | **Location**: Remote
**Languages**: English + Spanish
**Pay**:$6.50 USD/hour** (weekly payouts)
**Performance-based** increase after **3 months**.

**Overview**

We are hiring a **licensed Medical Doctor (MD) or Nurse Practitioner (NP)** to serve as a **Bilingual Medical Virtual Assistant** supporting a U.S. rheumatology practice. This role is **70% medical billing**, with the remaining time focused on **appointment scheduling** and **balance collection**.

This role requires strong clinical judgment, high initiative, clear communication, and the ability to work at a fast clinic pace without needing constant direction.

**What success looks like**

You will be successful if you consistently:

- Switch smoothly between billing tasks and live admin needs without losing follow-through
- Stay active in team chat and proactively take ownership of tasks (not waiting to be told)
- Communicate in concise, direct updates (written and verbal)
- Translate accurately and safely, escalating clinical questions instead of improvising
- Protect patient experience through professionalism, accuracy, and proper documentation

**Key responsibilities**

**A) Medical Billing (primary)**
- Support billing workflow: claim preparation, basic coding support, payment posting, claim status checks
- Assist in correcting and resubmitting denied/rejected claims with direction from the main biller
- Perform insurance verification and eligibility checks for billing-related needs
- Provide reliable coverage for billing tasks during the main biller’s PTO, following established processes
- Maintain accurate documentation aligned with HIPAA/BAA standards

**B) Administrative and Front Office Support (as needed)**
- Handle inbound and outbound calls in English and Spanish
- Support appointment scheduling, confirmations, cancellations, and reschedules
- Assist with prior authorization coordination and insurance-related follow-ups
- Collaborate with office staff and other VAs to keep workflows organized and moving

**Required qualifications (must-have)**
- **MD or Nurse Practitioner credential** (required)
- Strong English and Spanish communication (spoken and written)
- Demonstrated experience working in a clinical setting and coordinating patient care workflows
- Experience supporting medical billing processes (claims, denials, eligibility, payment posting, follow-ups)
- Strong multitasking ability in a fast-paced clinic environment
- High ownership and initiative: proactive in chat, follows through, escalates blockers early
- Detail-oriented, accurate, and reliable with patient-facing communication
- Comfort working remotely with stable internet, professional workspace, and HIPAA readiness

**Preferred qualifications**
- Specialty clinic experience (rheumatology a plus)
- Experience with U.S. insurance workflows and prior authorizations
- EMR/EHR familiarity and strong documentation habits (NexTech EMR)
- Microsoft Teams for communication, RingCentral for dialer
- Ability to break down tasks into clear steps and improve workflows over time
