Purpose The team develops, maintains, and supports Case Management Systems and applications for internal banking processes. The role provides technical leadership in the analysis, design, development, implementation, architecture, and support of Pega-based solutions. The PEGA Solutions Associate leads current and future implementation projects, introduces new technologies to meet business objectives, and offers technical consultation and guidance. They adapt to changing environments, infrastructures, and new technologies to meet client deliverables and achieve strategic goals. Accountabilities Develop and deliver high-quality deliverables across all project phases, from requirements and design to post-implementation and production support. Assist with planning and executing unit, integration, and user acceptance testing. Ensure timely delivery of solutions within structured timeframes. Identify and recommend enhancements to the core base product. Provide technical expertise and ownership of technical solutions. Recommend standards for systems architecture, application development, systems integration, data modelling, and testing. Collaborate with product owners, technology teams, and colleagues, with a continual focus on customer success. Participate in reviews and walkthroughs of project deliverables to ensure quality, high availability, integrity, and reliability. Stay current on rapidly changing technological trends, self-teach new technologies, and understand the Division’s business and technology strategies. Provide input and ideas to product owners and team members to solve complex business requirements. Participate in all aspects of application development for assigned applications or technology. Provide production and user acceptance testing support for complex technical problems, analysing issues, implementing solutions, and developing new support procedures. Understand and consider the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in day-to-day activities and decisions. Pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, ensuring adherence to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk controls. Primary Manager: Senior Manager Development Direct Reports: NA Reporting Relationships: NA Dimensions: NA Critical Requirements A degree in computer science, math, or an engineering-related discipline is desirable, along with at least 3 years of professional experience Experience in the analysis, design, and development of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) solutions Ability to quickly and independently develop advanced knowledge of the Pega Rules Process Commander (PRPC) Architecture and all PRPC design and implementation features Expected to learn Pega development skills in an intense training program and become Pega CSA certified within 4 months of hire Soft Skills Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills to deliver proposals, provide user support, and interact with team members and other departments. Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills to drive dialogue with business partners, understand their underlying needs, and manage their expectations Solid customer focus skills to discern underlying client needs and foresee opportunities to enhance service levels and increase solution scalability Strong team focus with a genuine interest in working collaboratively with others, mentoring peers, and being open to giving and receiving constructive feedback. Flexible and adaptable, open to learning new methodologies, tools, platforms, and systems such as Microsoft Power Platform Creative and flexible in identifying technical solutions to resolve business problems in a rapidly changing, demanding, and complex business environment Ability to meet and manage tight and changing deadlines and priorities Open-minded and able to make sound decisions without having all the facts Hard Skills Experience with Pega Case Management and Workflow-related concepts and data is an asset Agile project experience is also an asset Experience in Java, .NET, or MS SQL Server is an asset Competencies Highly analytical, with the ability to quickly understand how various elements relate to one another, having an end-to-end perspective of decisions and anticipating issues/roadblocks. Proactive and dynamic, demonstrating initiative, eagerness to learn, and thriving on challenges. Working Conditions Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
