Aktos is a seed-stage, Vertical SaaS Fintech startup looking for a Client Support Engineer who will play a key role in building the Operating System that powers the $18B Credit Collections industry. Credit collectors play an overlooked yet integral part of our financial ecosystem. They help consumers settle their debts and improve their credit scores—granting them clean states to start over. Collectors help critical businesses like doctor’s offices and local governments, who deal with high payment default risk, secure their revenue streams and ensure their continued survival. In truth, collectors have incredibly interesting, multi-faceted jobs. They are often one part salesperson, one part therapist, and one part detective in their mission to recover funds. At Aktos, we are building a modern software platform that caters to collectors’ unique workflows, and make the credit recovery process a more positive experience for all parties. Our Team Aktos was founded by seasoned Product and Engineering leaders who have worked at companies such as Zenefits, TikTok, Meta, LinkedIn, Google, Apple, Amazon, WeWork, Flatiron Health (acquired by Roche). The Position We are seeking a Client Support Engineer who will act as the technical backbone for our customer-facing support operations. This role blends engineering precision with customer empathy: you will investigate production issues, perform initial root‑cause analyses (RCA), execute data migrations, backfill data for new product features, and build one‑off scripts or tooling to unblock customers and internal teams. You’ll work closely with Product and Engineering to ensure our clients experience a stable, reliable platform. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, digging into unfamiliar code paths, and improving systems over time. Responsibilities Support Issue Investigation & Resolution Triage, analyze, and resolve customer‑reported issues with high ownership and urgency. Perform initial root cause analysis (RCA) to determine whether issues stem from data, product logic, configuration, or underlying code. Reproduce issues locally and/or in staging environments to validate findings. Create and execute custom scripts (Python/Django management commands or standalone scripts) to remediate one‑off issues or unblock customers. Collaborate with engineering to elevate issues with clear technical summaries and proposed next steps. Data Backfills & Migrations Design, write, and safely execute data backfills, particularly when new columns or models are introduced. Prepare and run database migrations, ensuring correctness, idempotency, and performance for large datasets. Work with engineering to validate schema changes and confirm data integrity before and after migrations. Build reusable frameworks or tooling to automate common backfill/migration workflows. Internal Tooling & Reliability Improvements Identify recurring support patterns and develop tooling, scripts, or documentation to reduce operational load. Contribute to internal knowledge bases and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Suggest and implement improvements in observability, logging, and validation checks to prevent future issues. Partner with engineering to improve system robustness based on insights from support investigations. Who You Are Comfortable with: Full Stack Engineering. Providing on‑call support and guidance to other developers to triage issues. Impact and Expectations: Contribute to key performance indicators (KPIs) such as system uptime, performance metrics, and compliance standards. Make a significant impact within the first 6‑12 months by leading initiatives to improve infrastructure and operational practices. Requirements B.S. Degree in Computer Science 2+ years of experience in a support engineering, backend engineering, or technical operations role. Strong hands‑on experience with Python and Django (ORM, management commands, migrations, signals). Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), including writing safe, efficient queries. Experience performing data migrations, backfills, and data integrity validation. Ability to diagnose issues across the stack (app logic, database, configuration, integrations). Comfort reading and navigating backend codebases. Strong written and verbal communication skills—ability to translate technical findings into clear explanations.
