UK Accountant – VAT Registration

TAJ Accountants is seeking a detail-oriented UK Accountant with hands‑on experience in VAT registration and VAT compliance. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of relevant UK accounting experience and a strong understanding of HMRC VAT regulations. This role is suitable for someone looking to grow their career in UK taxation and compliance. Key Responsibilities Handle VAT registrations and deregistrations for UK clients Prepare, review, and submit VAT returns (including standard, flat rate, and MTD‑compliant returns) Ensure full VAT compliance with HMRC regulations and deadlines Review client transactions to ensure correct VAT treatment Assist clients with VAT queries, notices, and correspondence with HMRC Maintain accurate accounting records related to VAT Support senior accountants with UK accounting and compliance tasks Stay updated with changes in UK VAT legislation and HMRC guidance Required Experience & Skills Minimum 1 year of experience in UK accounting with a focus on VAT Practical experience in VAT registration and VAT return filing Good understanding of UK VAT rules and compliance requirements Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage – preferred) Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines Good communication and organizational skills Qualifications Any professional degree is preferable (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Commerce) Part‑qualified or qualified certifications (ACCA, ACA, AAT, or equivalent) are an advantage but not mandatory Why Join Taj Accountants?
