Fresco is looking for a Principal Platform Engineer for our IoT Team with Python and AWS experience to drive the design and development of the next generation of our multi-sided smart kitchen platform: the Fresco KitchenOS. Fresco is experiencing significant growth as an end-to-end IoT and guided cooking platform providing award-winning capabilities and experiences for appliance manufacturers, recipe producers, and home cooks. Fresco is growing fast and partners with appliance makers such as BOSCH, Kenwood, Instant Brands, GE Appliances, Electrolux, LG, Thermomix and Panasonic. Founded in 2012, Fresco operates globally with offices in Dublin, Ireland, and Spain, and roles based in Madrid or remote within Spain. Role Principal Platform Engineer, IoT — reporting to the VP of Platform Engineering (Spain) — will lead the design and development of a scalable multi-sided platform for millions of users, spanning firmware to databases and APIs. Responsibilities Lead the Architectural Vision: Define and champion the technical roadmap for Fresco KitchenOS IoT Platform, ensuring scalability for millions of users. Mentor and Inspire: Guide and empower your team to deliver world-class engineering solutions. Forge Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive seamless integration of KitchenOS. Champion Innovation: Foster a culture of creativity and continuous improvement within the engineering team. Technical Expertise: Provide deep technical expertise across the entire platform, from firmware to databases and APIs. What we’re looking for 8+ years of experience leading and architecting highly scalable distributed systems for IoT (millions of devices). 5+ years of experience managing and delivering secure IoT platform deployments. Proven leadership: ability to lead and inspire high-performing engineering teams. Technical Mastery: In-depth expertise in Python, AWS (including IoT Core, S3, DynamoDB, and Lambda), and data platform architectures. Security Champion: strong commitment to building and maintaining secure IoT platforms. Exceptional communication: ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. Strategic thinker: understand competitive landscape and translate vision into actionable plans. A passion for learning: stay ahead of the curve and embrace new technologies. Fluent English is a must. Bonus points Master’s degree in computer science or related field. Experience in a leadership role within a high-growth tech company. Proven track record of successful innovation initiatives.
