We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join our team at Loomly, Inc. as a key member of our engineering leadership team. As an Engineering Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping the direction of our engineering team and driving the development of our SaaS software.
Responsibilities- Team Leadership: Partner with the VP of Engineering to lead and manage a team of high-performing full-stack engineers, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Technical Expertise: Serve as the day-to-day engineering leader and technical expert, providing technical guidance and mentorship to the team.
- Decision-Making: Assist with daily decision-making, ensuring team members are consistently unblocked and able to focus on delivering high-quality software.
- Architecture and Code Reviews: Lead architecture and code reviews, and get hands-on in code development and deployment when necessary.
- Application Support: Assume responsibility for application support and immediate response to production issues as they arise.
- Technical Guidance: Answer questions and resolve issues brought forth by engineering team members.
- Collaboration: Partner with other departments, including product management and design, to set product priorities, define project requirements, shape solutions, and develop overall concepts for new product features and changes.
- Resource Planning: Plan and allocate resources to meet project deadlines and objectives.
- Research and Innovation: Spearhead various research initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and improved processes.
- Process Improvement: Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team as we grow.
- Engineering Processes: Partner with the VP of Engineering to develop and implement engineering processes and best practices to ensure velocity, efficiency, and quality.
- Leadership Experience: Experience leading and managing engineering teams delivering SaaS software (full-stack teams preferable).
- Product Decision-Making: Experience making product decisions and/or working closely with a Product Manager to make product decisions.
- Individual Contributor Experience: Significant and proven experience as an individual contributor.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of Ruby on Rails.
- Communication Skills: Ability to think carefully and weigh complex tradeoffs with an eye toward long-term product success and business goals.
- Clear Communication: History of explicit, clear, and detailed written and verbal communication.
- Location: Based in the USA.
- Marketing Tech Knowledge: Knowledge of the social media and/or marketing tech landscape.
- Frontend and Backend Experience: Experience working with React and Redux, as well as Ruby on Rails, Sidekiq, Node.js, Postgres, Redis, and other relevant technologies.
- Infrastructure Knowledge: Knowledge of DevOps, infrastructure, and AWS, including AWS, Docker, Elastic Container Service (ECS), RDS, SQS, and Terraform.
