Job Summary
We are seeking a Mid-level Maritime Structural Engineer to join our Bogota office. This position will perform planning and design for waterfront structures projects, including marinas, vessel mooring and berthing structures, breakwater and shore protection structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare design plans, specifications, and estimates for a wide variety of structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and noise barriers.
- Ensure structures can withstand the stresses and pressures imposed by use and the environment.
- Calculate stability, strength, and rigidity and ensure the right materials are used for each assigned project.
- Develop plans for small projects, including cost estimates, budgets, scheduling, and documentation preparation, support, and evaluation.
- Help resolve design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspections, detailed design work, and detailed checking of design computations done by others, or general coordination of specific design aspects into a project.
- May occasionally supervise and schedule work of other team members.
- Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
- Has limited client contact at staff level.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline; required.
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering; preferred.
- Professional registration or certification; required.
- 4-6 years of industry experience; required.
- Experience using Mathcad, MicroStation, AutoCAD, SAP2000, ETABS, and LPile; required.
- Experience may include finite element modeling, design of mooring and berthing dolphins, design of piles and pile-supported structures, and preparation and review of drawings.
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); required.
Work Environment
- General office setting with occasional field work. Some client and field visits.
Physical Demands
- Ability to use standard office equipment. Sits for a prolonged period. Field work may require unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
Travel Required
- Occasional travel to other company offices, client offices, or field.
