About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, Backend, you will be responsible for designing and developing our backend services, including APIs, data modeling, event handling, and ensuring the scalability of our systems. You will work closely with our cross-functional teams to break down complex projects into manageable tasks and guide and mentor junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Own projects end-to-end, from design to implementation, managing complexity and working with stakeholders to think through areas such as business impact, reliability, operability, and security.
  2. Collaborate with product managers, product design, and other cross-functional stakeholders on roadmap initiatives, product ideation, and prioritization.
  3. Produce high-quality code that is easily testable, readable, and accounts for edge cases and errors.
  4. Architect tools, services, and systems using well-accepted design patterns to allow for iterative autonomous development and future scaling.
  5. Uphold best practices and high standards for engineering and product quality, and mentor newer team members to do the same.

Requirements

  1. 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
  2. Experience leading and owning end-to-end product development and impactful technology initiatives for organizations.
  3. Experience working in a collaborative environment involving different functions, stakeholders, and subject matter experts.
  4. Desire to work in a fast-paced environment, with a bias for action, a passion for self-improvement, and helping to elevate and mentor those around you.
  5. Proficiency in both spoken and written English.

  1. Ruby (Rails, Sidekiq), Kotlin (micronaut, jooq), GRPC, Protobuf, and Postgres for backend.
  2. Typescript / Javascript (React, Redux) for web.
