Job Description:
The Remote Control System Engineer - Junior Level will be responsible for designing custom, state-of-the-art, electronic and DDC control systems that meet our clients' plans and specifications for small projects. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of electrical and electronic theory, as well as experience with Autodeck AutoCAD software.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that project requirements and risks are understood by attending sales turnover meetings, analyzing project plans, and creating a list of project engineering deliverables.
- Design controls drawings utilizing ACAD software that include flow diagrams, sequences of operation, bills of material, network layouts, schedules, and electrical schematics as required.
- Select the appropriate mix of products and installation methods to provide the most cost-effective solution that is compliant with the project specification, applicable codes, and company standards.
- Investigate the applicability of different valve styles and sizes to a particular application and select the proper control valves and actuators that will do the best job of controlling the process.
- Design a stable, robust, implementable, scalable, and maximum-performing BMS communication network by determining network architecture, topology, and transmission media that is appropriate for the installation and conforms to the latest network standards and project specification.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Knowledge of Autodeck AutoCAD software.
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic theory.
- Knowledge of the elements and building blocks of HVAC controls.
- Knowledge of damper actuator and control valve sizing and selection.
- Knowledge of the control strategies and logic that can be used to provide optimum operation of plant-level HVAC systems.
- Knowledge of the control strategies and logic that can be used to provide optimum operation of supplemental HVAC systems.
- Knowledge of supervisory control strategies for the overall operation of the BMS.
- Knowledge of BMS communication protocols and network topologies.
- Knowledge of Honeywell DDC product offering.
- Knowledge of the company's design standards and processes.
Execution:
- Scopes and implements project-level solutions with minimal guidance.
- Consistently follows best practices and can defend technical decisions in design review meetings.
- Creates accurate designs.
- Manages workload efficiently and proactively suggests solutions to competing demands.
- Engages with project sales and production team members on the feasibility of requested scope and clarifies requirements where necessary.
- Seeks input from colleagues with area expertise.
- Detects problems in proposals, specifications, and drawings.
- Takes ownership and can work autonomously on projects with minimal complex requirements, delivering design documents on time and with a quality mindset.
