Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.

Job Description
This role will support the accounting responsibilities within the Accounting Office at American Airlines. The position works among cross-functional teams to ensure the accounting activities are appropriately analyzed, processed, and documented in compliance with internal controls, process and procedure, and local country regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To support the day-to-day oversight of disbursements and banking activities.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and associated journal entries.
  • To support various tax/statistical filings.
  • To present results and follow-through to completion for all initiatives.
  • To process invoices on time.
  • To be familiar with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist and/or complete miscellaneous ad-hoc projects as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • This internship is open to all university students currently pursuing an Accounting degree.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English.
  • Demonstrated excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.
  • Proficient with PC and Microsoft Office software (e.g., Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint).
  • Organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to deal with confidential subject matter.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work flexible hours when required.
  • Good team player.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of tax laws and local reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of airline accounting practices.
  • Knowledge of SAP.
  • Work experience in an accounting environment.
