About the Role

Coupa Software Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Release Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Cloud and SaaS engineering team, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing software releases and infrastructure upgrades across different environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Release Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute software releases and infrastructure upgrades across different environments following established release management processes.
  • Release Progress Monitoring: Monitor release progress, track issues, and communicate status updates to stakeholders.
  • Release Automation: Implement and maintain release automation frameworks and tools to streamline and improve the efficiency of the release process.
  • Script Development: Develop and maintain scripts and workflows for automated build, deployment, and configuration management.
  • Pipeline Optimization: Continuously evaluate and enhance the release automation pipeline to reduce manual effort, improve reliability, and increase deployment speed.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate release schedules, dependencies, and priorities with stakeholders to ensure smooth and timely deployments. Provide regular status updates, reports, and documentation to stakeholders, management, and project teams.
  • Technology Evaluation: Evaluate products and technologies in the industry that can be applied to optimize Coupa's internal processes and workflows, simplify our operations, reduce technical debt, and eliminate toil.
  • Observability and Monitoring: Leverage observability and monitoring to make informed decisions.
Requirements
  • Experience: 4-6 years of experience in a Release Engineer role.
  • Critical Thinking: A critical thinker, resourceful, problem-solver who has a passion for applying technology to drive efficiency.
  • Cloud Expertise: Hands-on experience with Cloud/SaaS architecture using AWS/Azure.
  • Release Automation Tools: Experience with release automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Bamboo) and proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python) to automate build, deployment, and configuration management processes.
  • Operational Experience: Familiarity with operationalizing a software HA, Autoscaling, DR, Backups, Upgrades.
  • CI/CD Tools: Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and implementation of pipeline.
  • Configuration Management: Understanding of configuration management principles and experience with tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to manage and track software and infrastructure configurations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
