Job Title: Produce Clerk

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Produce Clerk to join our team at Hy-Vee. As a key member of our produce department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and organized store environment, and ensuring that our customers have access to the freshest produce possible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment by restocking shelves, rotating produce, and disposing of trash in a timely manner.
  • Review the status and appearance of merchandise for freshness and ensure that all products are properly stored and displayed.
  • Anticipate and meet the needs of customers by being proactive and responsive to their requests.
  • Work effectively with other team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a retail or food service environment preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Working Conditions:

This position is frequently exposed to temperature extremes and dampness. There is possible equipment movement hazards, electrical shock, and exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents. This is a fast-paced work environment.

Equipment Used:

Knives, wrapping machine, cash register, pallet jack, garbage disposal, trash compactor, cardboard compactor, and calculator.

Contacts:

Has daily contact with the general public and customers.
