Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled Data Engineer to work with our internal team to maintain and develop source code stored in GitHub. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our greater engineering team in building pipelines for various purposes, including internal and external use.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, with a passion for system support. They will be comfortable reading code to identify fixes and making changes to improve performance and stability. Their insights into the product and process will be essential feedback to our engineering team and other user and product support teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Backend Support: Develop tools and capabilities to optimize data ingestion, feature engineering, and code management.
  • Code Development: Create and maintain reusable code packages and libraries for team members to access via GitHub repositories.
  • Quality Assurance: Contribute to code development, ensuring quality and performance of these packages.
  • Process Improvement: Drive ongoing process improvements to reduce production times, increase accuracy, and improve transparency in ETL pipeline creation and maintenance.
  • Best Practices: Adopt and promote best practices in code design, including data needs, integrity, test design, analysis, validation, documentation, and deployment.
  • Code Audits: Perform thorough pre-production code audits to ensure code quality and compliance with best practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or another quantitative field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in supporting software and/or data products primarily using Python, with strong skills in algorithms, data types, exception handling, parameterized testing, and class instances.
  • Experience in data mining, ETL processes, and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets.
  • Proficiency in Python.
