Data Governance Steward Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Steward to join our team at GlaxoSmithKline. As a Data Governance Steward, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of our data assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Data Access Management: Develop and implement policies and procedures for granting access to data assets, ensuring that access is restricted to authorized personnel.
  2. Data Classification: Classify data assets as restricted, regulated, or public based on distribution needs, ensuring that sensitive data is properly protected.
  3. Data Quality Assurance: Develop and implement data quality rules, log issues, and work towards resolutions to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  4. Data Policies: Contribute to the development of policies on data retention, privacy, and usage, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  5. Data Sharing: Review and approve or reject data sharing requests, ensuring that data is shared securely and in accordance with company policies.
  6. Reference and Master Data: Define and review code values and identify master data sources, ensuring data consistency and accuracy.
  7. Metadata Management: Define business terms and their attributes, including calculations and rules, ensuring data is properly documented and understood.
  8. Data Stewardship Group: Participate in stewardship meetings and working groups as needed, ensuring collaboration and communication among stakeholders.
  9. Data Certification: Ensure reports and visualizations meet business needs and are trustworthy, providing guidance on data certification and validation.
  10. Subject Matter Expertise: Provide guidance during the creation of data assets, dashboards, and reports, ensuring data is properly used and understood.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
  2. 3+ years of experience in data management, governance, and quality.
  3. Experience with database management and governance projects.
  4. Strong understanding of data stewardship and governance concepts.
  5. Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  6. Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  7. Familiarity with data architecture.
  8. Proven expertise in project management and process design.
  9. Ability to thrive in a dynamic, research-oriented team.
  10. Fluency in English.
