Job Title: Senior Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager to join our Clinical and Pharmacovigilance teams at MSD. This role is responsible for leading Senior Clinical Data Managers (SCDMs) and Clinical Data Managers (CDMs) in operations tasks, both strategic and tactical in nature, within a Data Management Center (DMC).

About the Job

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the consistent execution of quality processes and deliverables and managing the workload and development of their direct staff. They will also encourage effective interaction of DMC staff with business partners to achieve common objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Direct Line Management of SCDM and CDMs
  2. Escalates to appropriate leadership/management as needed as risks and needs arise in the business
  3. Increases functional effectiveness by supporting departmental efforts to simplify and standardize procedures to the greatest extent possible
  4. Sharing best practices and participating or leading in continuous improvement efforts
  5. Participates in or Leads GDO Business Excellence Networks (BENs), GDO improvement efforts, SME networks, GDO and/or GDMS special initiatives as needed
  6. Facilitates and/or participates in management and functional area meetings, contributing expertise, when necessary, through formal or informal presentations
  7. Keeps abreast of process and technology changes both within and outside of our company that may impact staff
  8. May support any other projects or perform any other data management task deemed appropriate by management
  9. Supports GDO management team to set objectives and lead the team to achieve the business goals
  10. Leads and/or participates in initiatives beyond GDO or GDMS (e.g., cross-divisional projects, cross-industry initiatives, etc.)
  11. Trains staff on business processes, operations and tools

Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S. degree, preferably in life sciences, computer science, or related discipline
  • At least 5 years' experience in Clinical Trials
  • At least 2 years' experience in People Management or equivalent demonstrated leadership
  • Minimum one year experience in your current role

Preferred Skills

  • Demonstrate ability to build talent and lead teams of 15 or more people, with influencing and development skills
  • Strong project management, decision making, problem solving, negotiation and communication skills
  • Knowledge and/or experience in Research & Development at Pharmaceutical - Science Research industry
  • Preferably, knowledge in Databases, Data Analytics
  • Able to work under pressure in a changing environment with flexibility
  • Advance English Level
  • Applying Excel Level

Salary Information

Estimated salary range is $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, based on location and experience.
